A Letter
from John Manzutto:

Dallas Custom Furniture says just what it means. I have been working with custom furniture in the dallas area for quite some time. There is a reason why my furniture stands the test of time with modern or classic design. Furniture styles and designs were made by crafstmen who learned their trade from the crafstmen before them. This is how I learned what works and what doesn't work and why. The skill is learned and the trade is passed on. I build using the same techniques they used in the past because they work mixed with designs of today and yesterday. I apply these skills to pieces that I design with my customer in mind.

The choice of material, grain direction and type of joint make a difference in a piece that will last 100 years as opposed to a piece that will last only 3 years or less.

There are many furniture outlets where the furniture design is beautiful and you don't have to pay interest for 2 years, etc.. but that furniture has a limited shelf life, most of the time only 3 years. I take calls all of the time to make repairs for such furniture. Typically these repairs cannot be made due to the choice of cheap material (usually laminated particle board) and poor design that the piece was made in.

Our grandfathers bought their furniture carefully and had great pride in their purchase. This is how they could pass it on to their children. Retail furniture in today's market will not last long enough to give to your children in college, let alone your grandchildren.

I use old hand tools, as well as modern tools to achieve a custom made feel and look with your needs and tastes in mind. Furniture that is made specifically for your home and tastes should not look like it came from Haverty's, Rooms To Go, Freeds or any other outlet. It should be unique to your own desires, styles and needs.

I am an artist. I look at things from a different perspective than most people. I listen, look at what is there and what is not to find what it is that people need. I can help you through the process of design, material selection and delivery and above all of that, the best way to get it done. I'll find the way to get it done without overbilling the customer and keep your costs at a reasonable rate.

You have your home, now make it beatuiful. Call or email me if you have any interests in my work or if you have any questions.

  • Thank you for taking the time to come to “our neck of the woods” to check out the possibility of repairing our footboard. Also, a big thank you for your advice with the “maybe” piano. I appreciate good craftsmanship and I will be using you as a referral when anybody asks for an excellent furniture restorer. Here is a small token of our appreciation.
